Brickyard Run Sponsorship Opportunities!

Hello!

On Thursday, July 4 2019, we will host the 39th Annual Brickyard Run, our largest fundraiser of the year.

We’d like to invite you to help our efforts go even farther with you, or your company, as our official corporate sponsor.

In this role, your business would provide a sponsorship at one of our three levels, Red, White or Blue, and in turn, we would promote your company as the event’s official sponsor. Alternatively, your team could provide giveaways for our runners, in your role as a Star Sponsor.

With you by our side at this upcoming event, we are sure to achieve this season’s fundraising goal and serve our community well.

If you or your company are interested in being our official event sponsor, please reach out to us at asantos@hobartymca.org. We can’t wait to hear back from you!

Warm Wishes,

June Swim Lessons

Don’t wait! June Swim Lessons Are Filling Up Fast!

See all our available lessons here!

Swim Lessons

The Y is “America’s Swim Instructor” and the most accessible community resource to prevent drowning and encourage a lifelong enjoyment of swimming. The Y introduced the country to the concept of group swim lessons more than 100 years ago, (1909), and each year, the Y teaches more than a million children invaluable water safety and swimming skills. As one of the largest community-based organizations in the country, the Y owns or manages over 2,000 pools. Thanks to its size and reach, the Y is in a unique position to help bridge the gap in the delivery of swim lessons and water safety education in the U.S.—especially in underserved communities.

There are three general categories of Y Swim Lessons:

• Swim Starters develops water enrichment and aquatic readiness in children ages six months to three years. This category focuses on developing swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences. Parents also learn how to supervise children in the water, how to prevent accidents and how to plan for emergencies.

• Swim Basics develops personal water safety and basic swimming skills in students of all ages. Swimmers develop a high level of comfort in the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration, and learning how to swim to safety and exit if they fall into a body of water.

• Swim Strokes introduces and refines stroke technique in older students (school age, teens and adults). Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being and foster a lifetime of physical activity.

Celebrating Success with the 2019 Youth and Government™Team!

Leaders of Our Community

This evening we hosted our Annual Youth and Government™ Celebration. We want to send our love and many thanks to all of the students, volunteers, donors, Hobart Community Fund, Hobart Education Foundation, Hobart Kiwanis Club and the School City of Hobart that help make this program successful year after year.

We had a triumphant Indiana Youth and Government™ (INYaG) conference in Indy this year.  Three of our delegates came home with several awards: Max Salazar-Outstanding Representative; Jack Huber-Outstanding INYaG Delegate who also received a trip to the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs (CONA) this summer; Elena Polizotto received an Honor Chord for participating in the program for 4 consecutive years, and one of our delegates; Donovan Ruiz will be Speaker of the House next year. A job well done to all!!

Congratulations to all of the 2019 Graduates – Best wishes for you and your next adventure!

Learn More About Youth and Government™

Youth and Government™ is a national program of the Y that involves thousands of teens nationwide in state-organized, model-government programs. Students from every corner of the U.S. have the opportunity to immerse themselves in experiential civic engagement and toquite literally, practice democracy. Teens from across every state meet in their local Youth and Government™ groups throughout the year to discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of their state and to propose legislation. The program culminates with teens serving as delegates at their state conference, debating bills on the floor of the legislature.
