As one of the largest non-profit organizations in our community, the YMCA offers two preschool educational programs in order to provide children a safe and nurturing environment in which to learn, grow, and thrive.

In the Y’s preschool programs, your child will build social skills, conflict-resolution skills, self-esteem, and friendships! Our teachers are professionally trained and certified, with continual professional development in order to ensure the best, most current practices in the classroom. At the Y, we strive to form a partnership with every family based on mutual trust, understanding, and respect.

Preschool Curriculum

Our preschool curriculum promotes individual growth through learning, explorations, and creativity. By allowing children to explore their own interests, this curriculum promotes social, emotional, and physical development, as well as language, anti-bias literacy, math, and critical thinking.

In order to develop the whole child based on their individual developmental needs, the curriculum also includes learning centers, music, arts and crafts, Literacy Lending Library, computers, Pre-Fit, a creative movement program, character development, swimming (indoor heated pool swim time), physical education (gym time), learning with technology, and the arts.

Since 2010 we have worked towards early childhood excellence in Hobart. We are honored to be collaborative partners in Hobart and on behalf of the School City of Hobart's youngest citizens!

Registration

Registration is available online or in-person at the Hobart Y. A non-refundable registration fee will be required at the time of registration. An email will be sent after registering with additional required documents. You can also print them directly from our website. Registration is the only way to guarantee your child(ren) placement in our programs.

Our program fills quickly, and we make every effort to ensure no one is turned away - please register early.

Preschool Programs

We have 4 programs to choose from:

Preschool: 3 year AM / 3 year PM
Member Rate: $72 / monthly
Non-Member Rate: $120 / monthly

Pre-Kindergarten (PreK): 4 & 5 year AM / 4 & 5 year PM
Member Rate: $90 / monthly
Non-Member Rate: $135 / monthly

Your child must be 3 years old on or before August 1, 2021, to enter the 3-year-old program and/or must be 4 years old on or before August 1, 2021, to enter the 4 & 5-year-old program.

Preschool 3 Year Class Program

The morning classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Class is from 9:30 am - 11:30 am. An afternoon class will be added once the morning class is full. The afternoon class time is from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Please inquiry afternoon class questions to Christy at crenn@hobartymca.org

Growing and Confident!

When looking for a preschool program for our oldest daughter, we were so impressed with the different opportunities the YMCA offered. The swim lessons and use of the gym facilities along with academics were important to us. We also chose to do the full-day Pre-K program to prepare our daughter for full-day kindergarten.

Elle is our second child who attends the Hobart Family YMCA program. We couldn’t be happier with the directors, teachers, and the program. It is evident that Elle is learning letters, sounds, number sense, and reading skills. Moreover, she is also learning social-emotional skills by working in “hands-on” centers and sharing with friends. Most of all, as parents, we know that the teachers love our daughter and care for her in the hours that we are away from her. Elle loves going to school and enjoys telling us about her day! We highly recommend the YMCA program.
