Miller Beach was one of the last regional homes for the Pottawatomie tribes<\/a> and was settled by Swedish settlers in the 1800s. It was the backdrop for early American silent movies<\/a> and the flying experiments of aviation pioneer Octave Chanute. Famously, it was also the weekend retreat for the Chicago author Nelson Algren and the French existentialist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir. \u00a0Today, Miller Beach continues to be a welcoming, diverse community<\/a> .\u00a0<\/strong>Come discover our friendly community for yourself!<\/p>\n
