Marquette Park and Nature Preserve<\/h1>\t\t\t

\u00a0Marquette Park’s 241 acres\u00a0span the entire coast of Gary’s Miller Beach neighborhood, <\/i><\/strong>including its 90 lakefront homes.\u00a0<\/i>Walk onto 5 miles of \u00a0beaches and over 20 miles of\u00a0scenic hike and bike trails<\/a> in\u00a0the Indiana Dunes, and s<\/strong>ee the\u00a0Chicago skyline from the shore of the southernmost point of Lake Michigan! \u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0You’ll find a lagoon, oak savanna, inland ponds, and tall dunes at this \u00a0hidden gem.<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0Public art commemorating local history includes Father of Flight Octave Chanute statue and model of his early flying\u00a0machine, explorer Father Marquette statue, and Tuskegee Airman statue and scale reproduction of fighter plane. \u00a0Historical and stately buildings add to the wide variety of interesting experiences at this park.<\/b><\/p>\n

In 2011, the Northwest Indiana<\/em> Regional Development Authority (RDA) spent 30 million dollars in Marquette Park \u00a0renovating two historic 1920s Prairie School structures\u2014the stately Marquette Pavilion and the Gary Aquatorium (Gary Bath House). \u00a0The RDA also restored coastal dunes and picnic areas and installed new paved trails<\/a> for bicycling and hiking to connect our neighborhood trail system to the Indiana Dunes National Park. \u00a0Managed by the City of Gary Park District with the help of: Friends of Marquette Park, Miller Garden Club, and Miller Playground Committee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
